Haesung DS verifies the licensing and legal compliance of all chemical substances handled.
Haesung DS verifies the licensing and legal compliance of all chemical substances handled. To ensure stringent chemical safety, Haesung DS conducts pre-approval assessments before introducing new substances, transitioning to low-toxicity materials, establishes and operates prohibitions on certain substances, implements a VALFS (Valve, Flange, and Switch Pre-Inspection and Confirmation) campaign, and incorporates monitoring functions for chemical facilities to create a pleasant working environment. Safety assessments and classification management of chemicals, as well as storage and handling standards, are disseminated and taught to partner companies to establish a collaborative management system. Furthermore, in accordance with global standards, Haesung DS aims to reduce the occurrence of harmful substances in its products by checking environmental regulations such as RoHS and REACH and preparing and managing certificates for hazardous substances for all products. Haesung DS will continue to strive for a safe and healthy workplace by removing and replacing high-risk substances and managing all chemicals throughout their lifecycle.
As a result of ongoing efforts to reduce chemical emissions, Haesung DS achieved an emission rate of 0.08% in 2023 (based on the amount handled).
Haesung DS establishes regulations for prohibited and restricted substances and manages their classifications for chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
Additionally, to further reduce emissions, Haesung DS is continuously promoting the substitution of substances and improving the efficiency of prevention facilities, aiming to lower the emission rate to 0.02% by 2030.

Haesung DS emits various forms of environmental pollutants, including those affecting water quality, air quality, odors, and waste, due to the chemicals used in its business operations. Failure to comply with progressively strengthening regulations and legal requirements may not only restrict business activities but could also jeopardize the company's survival.
The Chemical Registration and Evaluation Act and the Chemical Control Act of the South Korean government, which began implementation in 2015, aim to minimize potential threats to the public from approximately 5 million new substances developed each year. Despite having various preventive measures in place to prevent accidents and minimize damage, the handling of chemical substances could still lead to substantial damage, such as business suspension, in the event of an accident.
With the expansion of regulated substances subject to the Classification, Labeling, and Packaging of Chemicals (CLP), the New Chemicals Management System (REACH), and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), products manufactured by companies implementing eco-friendly production systems are expected to enhance their market competitiveness.
