Eco-Friendly Purchasing

Haesung DS minimizes its impact on society and the environment by purchasing eco-friendly products,
in accordance with green purchasing guidelines.

Eco-Friendly Purchasing Guidelines

Chapter 1 (Purpose)
  • 1.1 The purpose is to minimize impacts on human health and the environment through the purchase of eco-friendly products, and to maintain a pleasant quality of life and environment by using finite resources efficiently.
  • 1.2 As a corporate consumer, the company actively participates in the promotion and use of eco-friendly products, contributing to the spread of a healthy and sustainable consumption culture, and actively supports national policies.
Chapter 2 (Scope of Application)
  • 2.1 This applies to eco-friendly products or alternative items required during manufacturing activities, including raw materials, civil engineering, construction, electrical, chemical, equipment, MRO (office supplies and consumables), and household items.
  • Chapter 3 (Definitions)
    3.1 "Eco-Friendly Products" refer to items that contribute to resource conservation and reduce impacts on human health and environmental pollution compared to other products or services of the same use, and are characterized by superior quality. The following criteria apply:
    - Grade 1: Products designated as "Eco-Label Products" under the Environmental Technology Development and Support Act and its regulations, as well as "Excellent Recyclable Products" defined by the Resource Conservation and Recycling Promotion Act.
    - Grade 2: Products classified as "Energy Efficiency Grade 1~2 Products," "Energy Saving Mark Certified Products," and "High-Efficiency Energy Equipment" under the Energy Utilization Rationalization Act and its regulations.
    - Grade 3: "Eco-Friendly Certified Products" that have obtained environmental labels certified by the government of the respective country.
    - Grade 4: Other products that do not contain any environmentally hazardous substances.
    ※ Environmental Hazardous Substances
       - Exceeding the limit for the 6 restricted substances under RoHS (Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr+6, PBBs, PBDEs)
       - Prohibited substances for compliance with regulations, such as asbestos
       - Substances currently undergoing legislation, such as beryllium
       - Presence of SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) candidate substances as defined by REACH, or substances exceeding 0.1% by weight in the product
    3.2 "Eco-Friendly Product Priority Purchasing" refers to the act of prioritizing the purchase of items specified in the previous section over other identical purchasing items.
    Chapter 4 (Responsibilities)
    4.1 Environmental Department
    4.1.1 Establishing strategies, plans, securing budgets, providing information, analyzing performance, and revising guidelines for this directive.
    4.1.2 Promoting and educating relevant parties (suppliers, purchasers) about the dissemination of eco-friendly purchases.
    4.1.3 Cooperating with and fulfilling the requirements of the government and relevant external organizations, as well as reporting on these activities.
    4.1.4 Performing duties that represent the company in relation to other eco-friendly products.
    4.2 Purchasing Department
    4.2.1 Prioritizing the purchase of eco-friendly products unless there are special reasons to do otherwise.
    4.2.2 Gradually expanding and operating the purchase of eco-friendly products.
    4.2.3 Identifying alternative items to eco-friendly products and encouraging and supporting suppliers to obtain eco-friendly product certifications.
    4.2.4 Improving and developing purchasing systems for the smooth operation of these guidelines.
    4.3 Suppliers (Partner Companies)
    4.3.1 Actively cooperate when requests arise fr|om departments related to eco-friendly products.
    4.3.2 Attach relevant documentation regarding the eco-friendly status of products when entering into purchasing contracts.
    4.3.3 Notify the relevant department of the current status of eco-friendly product purchases upon request.
    4.3.4 Immediately inform the responsible department if there are any changes to environmental information (such as cancellation of eco-friendly product certifications or new certifications) regarding supplied products.
    4.3.5 Implement measures to ensure that purchasers prioritize and recognize eco-friendly products through appropriate labeling.
    4.4 The procedures for purchasing eco-friendly products shall follow the guidelines outlined in (Appendix 1).
    Chapter 5 (Performance Reporting)

    5.1 The performance aggregation of eco-friendly products will focus only on Grade 1 products as specified in Section 3.1 and will be reported to management annually.

    These regulations shall come into effect fr|om July 1, 2015.

    Haesung DS strives to enhance its environmental performance and improve the environmental characteristics of its products by purchasing and consuming eco-friendly products for the raw materials and consumables used in its business operations.

    Eco-Friendly Supply Chain
    Certification System

    Haesung DS operates an eco-friendly supply chain certification system (QSA, QPA) to ensure that harmful substances are not inherently included throughout the entire process of product development and manufacturing. This is achieved through the evaluation and verification processes of the supply chain management systems of first-tier partner companies.
