Members who may be potentially exposed to safety hazards (e.g., chemicals, electricity, asphyxiation, falls, fire, and other energy sources) must be identified, assessed, and protected through appropriate design, management measures, preventive maintenance, safe work procedures, and ongoing safety training. If these hazards cannot be adequately controlled, appropriate personal protective equipment must be provided to members, along with educational materials regarding the risks associated with the hazards.
Additionally, reasonable measures should be taken to ensure that pregnant employees are not placed in high-hazard work environments. This includes eliminating or reducing factors that threaten the health and safety of pregnant employees in the workplace, as well as providing facilities for breastfeeding.
